The Family Place Staff

Here at The Family Place we believe that staff development is a key component of our ability to provide practical, encompassing services to the families who come to us for early intervention, home visits, parenting education, child advocacy, and child care financial assistance.

Our annual Staff Retreat is a vital part of our staff development program. This is our yearly chance to come together as a group for an entire business day and share experiences, knowledge, ideas and, of course, lunch!

As part of the retreat this year, we engaged in group discussions of hot topics like welfare, animal rights, and gun control; not topics we may expect to always be a part of our daily work, but the conversations generated during this time are productive in terms of new ideas, new ways of looking at our community, and new relationships among staff members.

We were also lucky to have three fathers visit from the Visiting Nurse Association fathers program at The Family Room in Burlington, Vt. Here at The Family Place we’ve been working to incorporate programs that are more welcoming to dads, and the experiences and advice from these men were a valuable part of our learning process. We are very grateful they drove from Burlington to speak to us, and very impressed with the work they’re accomplishing on the part of dads and their children!
