This year, the Vermont Department of Health identified The Family Place as an educational facility that is required to have an Asbestos Management Plan in place to comply with state and federal regulations. We had a consultant group onsite earlier this Spring and they created the plan and conducted extensive testing at that time. It was determined that there are currently no accessible materials that present a risk of asbestos exposure.
Per the regulations from the state, we are posting this notice:
The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) 40 CFT 763.93 [g] [4] requires that written notification be given that The Family Place buildings at 319 US Route 5 S, Norwich, and 52 Olcott Drive, Wilder, have Asbestos Management Plans for the safe control and maintenance of asbestos-containing materials found in the buildings. Comprehensive sampling of materials was conducted on May 26th and 27th 2022. It was determined that no response actions are required at this time. Re-inspection will occur in September 2022 and again every six months thereafter. The current management plans are valid until March 2025. The plans are available and accessible to the public at the main administrative office at 319 US Route 5 S, Norwich, VT, 05055.
