Are you a parent in recovery looking for extra support? Second Growth and The Family Place are hosting the first class of our next Parents Together group on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Dates and Times: Tuesday afternoons, 3:30-5pm from October 1 – November 19, 2019 (eight week program).

The Parents Together group is a collaboration between The Family Place and Second Growth with a goal to support parents in recovery while strengthening their parenting skills. This program is made possible with support from: Boyle Community Pediatrics, Vermont Community Foundation, and Prevent Child Abuse Vermont.

The Parents Together group will utilize an eight-week skill-building program based on the “Circle of Security” curriculum, with time and attention paid to recovery support as well. The goals of the curriculum include enhancing relationships between parents and children, recovery support, improving communication skills, and improving self-care.

Participants of the group will include parents and partners of parenting adults with substance abuse dependence or addiction, including those in treatment and recovery.

Our Parents Together group is a supportive environment for parents in recovery and will include:

• Professional childcare provided during the class – space is limited and you must register in advance
• With advanced notice, some limited transportation will be available upon request
• Participants will receive generous incentive awards for attending classes
• Abundant, healthy, and delicious snacks will be provided during class
