The Family Place, a Parent Child Center in Norwich, Vermont, is seeking board members to join our committed, engaged, and vibrant Board of Directors.
What: Established in 1985, The Family Place delivers comprehensive programs designed to strengthen positive relationships, teach essential skills, and promote enduring health for families with young children in the Upper Valley and surrounding communities.
Knowing that this work is best done together, The Family Place consistently strengthens collaborations with local organizations and continues to capitalize on the generous support from community foundations, donors, local businesses, and volunteers. Recent expanded and deepened partnerships illustrate The Family Place’s position as a leader in the field and underscores the vital role they play in our community’s social safety net.
Who: The Board of Directors actively supports the work of The Family Place executive director and staff with many opportunities to contribute to the strategic direction of, and advocacy for, the organization.
Why: We seek to strengthen our Board by engaging volunteers of diverse backgrounds including abilities, experiences, and professions; races, cultures, and faiths; genders and sexual orientations; and income levels and geographic locations within the Upper Valley. No prior board experience is necessary.
How: Board members serve a three-year term beginning July 1. New members receive orientation and training and are assigned a board mentor in the first year. The Board meets ten times per year (in-person or via Zoom) and assists with the annual Gingerbread Festival, Force for the Future Luncheon, and Covered Bridges Half Marathon. Members engage in vigorous board discussion and make additional contributions to the organization via active participation on a standing or ad hoc committee.
Now What: Take an in-person tour of campus with Executive Director Nancy Bloomfield during our April Open Houses: Monday, April 4, 7:30 a.m. or Wednesday, April 6, 5:30 p.m. RSVP to Angela Stafford, chair, Board Development Committee.
