Our meeting room was converted into a construction site this Monday as staff and volunteers gathered to build real gingerbread houses in preparation for our annual Gingerbread Festival on Saturday, December 3rd.
After basic construction is completed, these houses will be delivered to several local child care centers where children will assume the very important task of decorating. After all, who knows best what a gingerbread house should look like? Kids do!
TFP staff were joined by several volunteers from Dartmouth College. Together, we used a mixture of water and powdered sugar to glue the pieces of baked gingerbread into a house shape. The gingerbread was all donated by Trap Door Bakehouse and Café in Quechee, Vermont. Be sure to stop by and thank them next time you’re in the area!
Most surprisingly, our construction workers managed to keep from eating all the tasty-looking gingerbread houses. This is just more evidence that our gingerbread elves are hard at work!
