Our second annual Cooking Competition took place last week!
A major component of our Families Learning Together program is our kitchen site, where young parents learn to budget for groceries, shop for groceries and prepare healthy meals for themselves and their families. Participants of the program make a healthy meal each day that staff and visitors enjoy for lunch.
Once a year, a few participants get to show off their advanced culinary skills in an on-site Cooking Competition where participants create appetizer dishes for judges to sample. This year we had a wide variety of savory and sweet on the menu:
Chocolate cake
Pizza bites
Broccoli bread bowl
Italian chicken
Taco salad
Spinach artichoke dip
Stuffed mushrooms
Mini quiches
S’mores dessert
The real winners were the people who got to taste the appetizers, but the chefs who made the chocolate cake and the spinach artichoke dip received awards for their fantastic food!
