Families Learning Together incorporates a strengths-based approach to service. This means we recognize that every family has practices that work well for all its members. Our job at The Family Place is to build on the foundation that’s already there. To this end we teach essential skills and encourage healthy habits, and we connect families to the resources that will make it possible for them to fulfill their own potential.
The tree you see here is a milestone tree donated by Kelly Ducharme of One Hip Sticker Chic (onehipstickerchic.com). Each leaf contains a milestone reached by a Families Learning Together participant this year. Milestones for the year – so far! – include these exciting successes: getting a driver’s license, getting a car, signing a lease for an apartment, and staying sober for one whole year. It will be exciting to see this special tree sprout more and more leaves as the year goes on!
As important as it is to define those areas within ourselves that need improvement and then set the goals that will make a difference, it’s equally vital that we celebrate success. Thank you to Kelly Ducharme for donating such a beautiful visual reminder of how far we’ve come!
