Yesterday was a very busy day for the Child Care Center!
Dianna Baker, a pediatric resident at DHMC, visited The Family Place to apply flouride varnish to the teeth of the children, while educating their parents about the treatment and good dental hygiene in general.
Parents raising their kids in poverty often have trouble making dentistry a priority. But untreated dental problems can be excessively painful, expensive, and serve as the root of a host of other health issues. By offering both education and treatment in a setting that’s familiar and comforting to the children, we hope to make clean, healthy teeth a more constant part of their family’s daily habits.
