Family Educators provide home based support to families in order to prevent the need for children to enter the Department of Children and Families custody and out-of-home placement, and for those families whose children are being transitioned home or reunified.
The Family Educator staff works to establish a positive, supportive relationship with the family and to build on their existing parenting strengths. They strive to improve parenting, home management, and problem solving skills. Staff work closely with other providers who are involved with the family, and assist families in connecting with additional resources. The length of support is limited to a 12-month period.
The Family Educator Program serves families where at least one child is under age twelve and resides within Windsor and Orange Counties. Family Educators also provide home based services to families not involved with the Department of Children and Families when caseload and capacity permits.
Home Visits are supported with a grant from the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation
