Child and Adult Food Care Program

Roughly one in five Vermont children lives in a household that is food insecure. The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is working hard to make sure there is food for everyone.

The CACFP provides invaluable nutrition to children who might otherwise go hungry. Only 22% of VT child care providers are enrolled – the 2nd lowest participation rate in the country! Please contact your local legislators and urge them to support efforts to identify and remove administrative barriers to participation.

Are you a childcare provider? Healthy meals are an important part of quality care. The CACFP will reimburse you for serving healthy meals to children in your care. Interested in learning more? Contact Karen Abbott, CACFP Specialist at the VT Agency of Education (Karen.Abbott@state.vt.us)
